SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Health Care Association has informed that the bandh called by the All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD) that was scheduled for November 23 has been postponed after the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare assured it to look into the grievances.
The State chemists’ body said the Ministry, in a meeting with AIOCD on November 16, had assured the national organisation that it would look into the issues pertaining to online pharmacy.
K.L Sharma, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Health, had said corrective measures would be taken to stop all online illegal sales of drugs. AIOCD said such sales would be permitted if drug laws are amended after the expert committee submits its report.
Sharma had assured that the problems faced in different parts of the country would be addressed “with a positive thought” and that “the government is planning to make changes in the act accordingly”.
