SHILLONG: Taking a step towards quality improvement, Nazareth Hospital in the city has joined the accreditation programme for hospitals and thus became the first healthcare organisation in Meghalaya to receive National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) entry level accreditation.
The accreditation is given in recognition of the systems and processes of the hospital which are laid down by the accreditation body for providing the best of services in patient care.
The focus of this initiative, which is being implemented by IMA’s Hospital Board of India, is on improved patient safety, quality of care and better infection control practices. The pre-accreditation entry level standards are looked as a stepping stone for enhancing the quality of patient care and safety. Such accreditation also helps many  hospitals meet the provisions of the Clinical Establishment Act.
Entry level accreditation of NABH was given to Nazareth Hospital for meeting the set of standards laid by NABH covering patient safety, continuity of care, patients’ rights and responsibilities, etc.
