MAWKYRWAT: Concerned over the problems faced by the people of the area, the Federation of Khasi Jaintia & Garo People (FKJGP) Nongkenbah Unit and Ranikor Circle along with the villagers of    Sarin, Nongpdeng Kenbah and Kenbah villages on Thursday repaired the 3 Km road from Photlongon to Tajuh in South West Khasi Hills District on their own.
According to the FKJGP, Ranikor Circle General Secretary, F. Iawphniaw, the 3 KM road from Photlongon to Tajuh was constructed since 1995-97 and was blacktopped in 2007-08 through the scheme from the Border Areas Development.
Iawphniaw also said that according to the information received by the Federation, the road was handed over to the PWD Roads since October 2014 but there was no follow up from the PWD (Roads).
“The people from these villages faced many problems because of the terrible road condition which is not motorable during the summer after the coming of heavy rainfall,” he said.
Therefore, Iawphniaw requested the PWD Minister, MM Danggo who is also a local MLA to repair the road at the earliest to ease the problems faced by the people of the area.
