SHILLONG: Criticizing the statement of UDP president Donkupar Roy that NDA government has no intention to mine uranium at Mawthabah, KSU South West Khasi Hills District asserted that the statement made by Donkupar is a political argument.
“The statement is an attempt to steer the UDP candidate to victory from Nongkrem constituency. We cannot deny the fact that the NDA government did nothing following the floating of tender by the Atomic Mineral Department for mining uranium in the State,” Jiedskhem Nongsiej , assistant general secretary, KSU South West Khasi Hills District said. “In doing so, Roy is trying to conceal what H.S Shylla did when he was the CEM KHADC with regard to uranium mining as Shylla played a leading role in writing the chapter of uranium mining in Mawthabah,” he said.
The KSU also urged the public to choose their representatives wisely for the upcoming election.
