5 held for using intoxicating substance
Police on Monday evening apprehended five persons– Deborshi Chakraborty (25), Shekhar Barua (25), Rupam Nath (18), Nazim Marboh (31) and Suman Dhar (27)-for smoking intoxicating substances near City Dhaba, Oakland.
Accidents
One person succumbed to his injuries sustained when two vehicles dashed against each other in Byndihati in East Jaintia Hills. Police said that the accident took place on December 5, when a twelve-wheeler truck (AS-01DC-3191) dashed against a Mahindra Pikup (ML-04A-6337) driven by Emlang Lyttan, which in turn knocked down one Rajesh Singha (45).
In another accident on December 6, one Tata Sumo (ML-05F-5072) driven by Samuel Nongbsap (25) ran over one Daniel Syiemlieh (27) at Sumo Stand, Garikhana, Shillong. As a result, victim sustained injuries on his right leg and was removed to Civil Hospital, Shillong.
Assualt
On Dec. 5 around 6 pm, unidentified miscreants assaulted Manjib Deb (45) at Pynthorbah Block-I. Victim sustained injuries and was shifted to CH Shillong.
On Dec. 2 around 10.30 am, one Thin Situng hacked Meral Situng in his residence at Barato village (WJH). As a result, victim sustained injuries on his neck and head and was removed to NEIGRIHMS.
Theft
On Dec. 2 around 4 pm, unknown miscreants stole Rs. 9,500 from the house of Odora Marbaniang at Upper Kench’s Trace.
Fraud
M. Shira Kshir, MCS, Assistant Electoral Registration Officer, 16-East Shillong AC / EAC, lodged a complaint that on Nov. 14 one claimant by the name of Rubi Nath submitted a manipulated school certificate for enrolment under 16-East Shillong AC by changing her first name from Lakhsmi to Rubi and her date of birth from Mar. 14, 1977 to Mar. 14, 1983.
