Police rescue man branded as Menshohnoh

SHILLONG: The City police on Sunday night rescued a person who was being targeted by a crowd in Sohiong for allegedly practicing witchcraft.
East Khasi Hills SP M Kharkrang said that one Bawell Laloo (40) was accused of being a menshohnoh (one who worships u Thlen).
The accused said he offered lift to two girls in his car but the duo jumped out of his vehicle and suddenly a crowd came and took him to the durbar and accused him of being a menshohnoh. The crowd was contemplating to lynch him.
Kharkrang said that the matter is being investigated as it was alleged that girls jumped out of Laloo’s vehicle, a Maruti van local taxi which was later overturned and vandalized. Quick response on the part of the policemen, who rushed to the spot from Shillong, ensured Laloo’s rescue.
