SSA teachers to protest on Dec 20

SHILLONG: The SSA teachers will stage a demonstration in front of main secretariat in protest against the apathy of the state government on their demands on pay parity.
A meeting of SSA teachers held under the banner of Meghalaya SSA School Teachers Association at Dorbar Hall, Mission, here on Monday, decided to stage a sit-in demonstration demanding same pay for both trained and untrained teachers.
The SSA teachers serving in lower primary schools will get a salary of Rs 19,044 from Rs 9,200 and SSA teachers of upper primary schools, Rs 20,493 from Rs 9,900.
This 100 percent pay hike is for those  teachers who completed Class-XII examinations and secured 45 per cent mark besides the teachers who had passed  Diploma in Elementary Education or B.Ed based on National Council for Teacher Education.
As per the state government, the SSA teachers who have not cleared Class-XII examinations with 45 per cent marks and those who have not passed B. Ed or Diploma in Elementary Education will get a different pay.
In this category,while the lower primary school teachers will avail Rs 13,335 from Rs 9,200 ,the upper primary school teachers will get Rs 14,392 from Rs 9,900.
