BJYM demands CCTV cameras at weighbridges

SHILLONG: The BJYM has demanded installation of CCTV cameras, computer sets and printers at every weighbridge in the State. Expressing concern over the existing state of affairs, BJYM president E. Kurkalang said that drivers and owners of trucks face harassment at weighbridges. He cited incidences from Umling and Amlarem.Kurkalang also demanded that the State government should call for a CBI inquiry to bring to book the people behind the problems created at weighbridges. “As per the Meghalaya Installation, Regulation, Maintenance and Operation Rules, 2009, CCTVs, computer sets and printers should be made available at weighbridges,” Kurkalang pointed out.
