One Indian smuggler nabbed
SHILLONG: The BSF troops deployed at Rongra in West Garo Hills seized a truck carrying cattle and found 22 animals were being smuggled to Bangladesh.
The driver, identified as 26-year-old Kopiyan Ali of Goalpara, who is an Indian national was nabbed on International Border.
The cattle carrier identified as Kopiyan Ali (26), resident of VPS- Lakhipur, District Goalpara (Assam). The BSF troop also seized two mobile phones with three Indian SIM cards from his possession. Similar seizure of cattle was also made by BSF troops deployed at Lyngkhat and Baldamgiri where a number of 26 cattle were seized at International Border.
Prices of cattle have gone up in recent months after the BSF checked the illegal supply channels to Bangladesh. The BSF has continuously been in its drive against the cattle smugglers. Security personnel have intensified its operations on the Indo-Bangladesh Border to prevent trans-border crimes.
It has also sought cooperation of local police to enhance operation against these cattle smugglers in hinter land also.
In another incident, BSF jawans deployed at Nandichar in South West Garo Hills seized 114 bottles of Phensedyl while being smuggled out to Bangladesh from India. The smugglers managed to escape taking the advantage of darkness and dense bushes.
It is believed that the smugglers used different disguised techniques to smuggle the Phensedyle but BSF troops were alert and well trained to foil such attempts of smugglers.
This smuggled phensedyle is sold to the drug addicts of Bangladesh at huge price. The Border Security Force has intensified its operations on the Indo-Bangladesh Border to prevent and curb trans-border crimes.
