Govt releases norms for self-attestation

SHILLONG: After considering the matter of adoption of the provisions of “self-attestation” in lieu of “attestation by gazetted officers and others” and “self-declaration” in lieu of “affidavit”, the State Government has notified the adoption of “self-attestation” and “self-declaration” in lieu of affidavits of various services. This was informed by the Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Personnel and Administrative Reforms Cell. The services where  self-attestation will be valid include documents required for admission of students
at Primary, Secondary and Higher Secondary levels, migration certificate at Secondary and Higher Secondary levels, correction of certificate/marksheet/ admit card at Secondary and Higher Secondary levels, issuance of duplicate certificate/marksheet/admit card at Secondary and Higher Secondary levels, copy relating to non-marriage certificate/non-employment certificate for grant of family pension due to death of an employee, copy of life certificate for pensioners/family pensioners to be submitted before pension disbursing authority/branch manager of pension disbursing bank and copy of documents required in case of loss of original vouchers in connection with reimbursement of admissible medical expenses.
The services for replacement by self-declaration include issuance of duplicate certificate/marksheet/admit card at Secondary/Higher Secondary level and submission of information regarding family income in case of scholarship schemes.
Any candidate or person falsely certifying documents/declaration is liable to be criminally prosecuted in the court of law.
