JOWAI: The office of West Jaintia Hills medical and health officer organised a programme to mark the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan at Nartiang PHC on Tuesday.
Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar lauded the hard work of R. Pohsnem, in charge of the primary health centre, “for helping locals by developing the PHC”.
On the central scheme, the Minister said pregnant women will get free antenatal care. D. Lyngdoh, Director of Health Services, said that the Government has taken this initiative to give free healthcare service to all pregnant women on the ninth of every month. He also said Tuesday’s programme would help in spreading awareness.
District edical and health officer M. Talang pointed out that the scheme has helped in bringing down the number of deliveries at home.
