SHILLONG: The working group 3 of the Meghalaya State Planning Board on Thursday held a video review meeting with the BDOs of Dalu, Rongram and Selsella block of West Garo Hills on the second phase of the Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) and the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme.
Both Dalu and Rongram blocks recorded low enrolment under MHIS at 35 per cent while Selsella was better off with 57 per cent, said the working group’s co-chairman John F. Kharshiing. The low enrolment was attributed to lack of awareness.
During the review of the MGNREGA implementation, it was informed that while Dalu and Rongram have 129 and 172 village employment councils (VECs), respectively, Selsella has as many as 354 VECs.
Earlier, the Committee had requested the State Government to delimitate the block so that the pressure on gram sevaks can be reduced (Contd on P-10)
