SHILLONG: The Syiem of Hima Maharam, Niandro Syiemiong, has urged the secretary to the KHADC Executive Committee to reject the memorandum of the Syiemlieh Clan (Sawkpoh) demanding his removal over alleged misuse of funds.
In a letter to the secretary, the traditional chief refuted the allegations of the clan that he was misusing the funds of the Hima Maharam.
Syiemiong said the clan misled people and he alleged that the clan members are allegedly trying to usurp the land of the Hima, Christened Balat-Ranikor.
According to him, the Syiemlieh clan has been opposing him and his Dorbar “as they are not getting the opportunity to seize the land of the Hima”.
Clarifying on the one-eighth share of the District Council, he said the share is for the Syiem and it was paid to the Syiem. “There is no such corruption prevailing in the Hima. Neither the Syiem nor the Dorbar Hima misled the people,” the Syiem said.
On the allegations that he had forcefully removed some members of the executive Dorbar of Hima Maharam, he said the Syiem and the Dorbar do not remove a Myntri or a Lyngdoh unless there are valid complaints against them.
Reacting to the allegations that Syiemiong gave away parts of land to the State Government, he said it is still pending in the District Council Court.
