Woman held for selling illegal liquor, gets bail

SHILLONG: The city police arrested a woman from Keating Road on Sunday for selling illegal liquor.
A police team, headed by SI E.S Momin, caught Betris Marbaniang, who was arrested twice before, red-handed when she was selling liquor. She was produced in the court on Monday and was given bail as the offence was bailable.
The police said Marbaniang was trying to revive the illicit liquor business. She also tried to bribe the officers before she was taken into Sadar police station and she said the officer in charge would not have a whiff of it, the police informed.
The last time she was arrested the woman had to cough up Rs 20,000.
