SHILLONG: Taking serious note of the dilapidated condition of the road leading to Dawki-Tamabil, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju assured that he will review the matter and take necessary steps to improve the situation.
Addressing the gathering which included locals and dignitaries at the inauguration of ICP Dawki on Tuesday, Rijiju said, “I am going to review the road condition. I will speak to the Meghalaya government and to National Highway Authority of India that this road must be improved.”
It is not only the dilapidated road condition that caught the Minister’s attention but he also spoke of the bad mobile network connectivity in the area.
According to him, if the road condition and communication network were not improved, “nothing will move smoothly here”.
“Whether it is the road condition or mobile network, whatever projects taken up by the central agencies, we will review all these. This is a promise and I expect that when I come back here after two years, whatever I said today will convert to reality,” he added. The road condition starting from half a km from Wahkdait up to Dawki-Tamabil is marred by ditches and potholes.
