BSF DIG gets President award

SHILLONG: Sabu A. Joseph, Deputy Inspector General of the BSF Meghalaya Frontier, has received President’s police medal for his impeccable integrity and dedication in the 30 years of career.
Joseph joined BSF as Assistant Commandant in September 1984. He was posted in Tripura, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir. He led many operations and was instrumental in eliminating several militants.
During Operation Parakram, the 14 battalion under his leadership had the rare distinction of holding defence independently in one of the most sensitive sub-sectors in Ferozepur to fight Pakistan. The Battalion ensured zero error in Punjab and matched the Indian Army Battalions in all areas.
As the commandant (ordnance), Joseph played a crucial role in increasing the production of ammunition and reducing product cost by 35 per cent.
Joseph, who holds masters degree in Technology, Business Administration and PhD in Management, also introduced 40 new types of tear smoke ammunition. Th ordnance unit had got ISO certification for environment management.
