Shillong/Tura/Nongstoin/Jowai/nongpoh: At Ampati, Mahendraganj Legislator & Chairperson, Meghalaya Resources & Employment Council, Dikkanchi D. Shira unfurled the National Flag and took the Rashtriya Salute at Ampati Students’ Field.
The parade by ten platoons, consisting of the Meghalaya Police and Scouts & Guides from various schools, was led by DSP Silvester Marak.
While 17 Government departments and agencies displayed impressive tableaus and floats depicting the initiatives and programmes being taken up for the benefit of the people.
At Tura, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Shri Zenith M Sangma unfurled the national tricolor and took the Rashtriya salute at Dikki Bandi Stadium, Dakopgre, Tura.
There were 11 parade Contingents comprising of Meghalaya police, 2nd MLP Battalion, Band party and school students.
At Williamnagar, Minister, School Education and Literacy, Smti Deborah C. Marak unfurled the National Flag and took the Rashtriya Salute of the 15 marching contingents comprising of Meghalaya Police, school students, Scouts and Guides and NCC at Rongrenggre Government Higher Secondary School playground.
At Resubelpara, Health and Family Welfare Minister, Smti Roshan Warjri unfurled the National Flag and took the Rashtriya Salute of the 11 Parade contingents consisting of Police personnel, NCC, Scouts & Guides and School children at Resubelpara Mini Stadium..
The Kayakalp Award was presented by to Bajengdoba PHC and Gabil PHC which carries a cash award of Rs. 2 Lakhs and Rs. 50,000 respectively.
At Baghmara, Arts and Culture Minister, Shri R. V. Lyndoh unfurled the National flag and took the Rashtriya salute at District Government Higher Secondary School Playground.
The marching contingent consisted of Meghalaya Police, BSF 141BN BSF, JNV school students, Government Higher Secondary School and Rangku Memorial School.
At Jowai, Deputy Chief Minister, Prof. R.C Laloo unfurled the National Flag and took the Rashtriya Salute of the 27 marching contingents which included the DEF (District Executive Force), 3rd Battalion, District Home Guard, Pipe band from the central training Institute Civil Defence & Home Guards, Shillong, Bharat Scouts and Guides, NCC from Thomas Jones Synod College, Jowai, NSS from Kiang Nangbah Government College, and 21 schools at Jrisalein Playground.
The KAYAKALP award alongwith a cash prize of Rs. 2 lakhs to Nartiang PHC.
At Khliehriat, Power Minister, Shri Sniawbhalang Dhar, unfurled the National Flag and also took the Rashtriya Salute of the eleven parade contingents consisting of school students and the Meghalaya Police at Khliehriat Higher Secondary School Playground.
Shri J. Dkhar Parliamentary Secretary to the government of Meghalaya also distributed the prizes to the best PHC in the District which was bagged by the Rymbai Public Health Centre. He also gave away the award to the best green and clean villages in the District in which Wahiajer Narpuh bagged the third prize, second by the Lamyrsiang Village while Latyrke Village bagged the first prize.
At Nongstoin, Home Minister, Shri H. D. R. Lyngdoh unfurled the National Flag and took the Rastriya salute of the 14 parade contingents which included Police, NCC and school students at New Nongstoin Playground.
The celebration was more colorful, with the presentation of tableaus from different departments.
At Mawkyrwat, DCA Minister, Shri Prestone Tynsong unfurled the National Flag and took the Rashtriya salute at Maharam Government Higher Secondary School, Mawkyrwat.
The Minister also handed over the Kayakalp Award of Rs. 2 Lakh to Mawthawpdah, CHC for maintaining the specific standard protocol of cleanliness which is part of Swaach Bharat Abhiyan.
At Nongpoh, I&PR Minister, Dr. M. Ampareen Lyngdoh unfurled the National flag and took the Rashtriya salute of 15 contingents which includes Meghalaya Police, NCC Cadre, Scouts & Guides, and school students at NSCA Mini Stadium, Pahamsyiem Nongpoh, Ri Bhoi District.
She also handed over the commendation award for the year 2016-17 to the Best Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Ri Bhoi District with a Cheque of Rs. 2 lakhs in which the Award bagged by the Marngar PHC and Mawhati PHC.
At Sohra Civil Sub-Division, Parliamentary Secretary, Shri Robinus Syngkon unfurled the National Flag and took the Rashtriya salute of the marching contingents comprising of Meghalaya Police, Armed Branch Shillong, and MLP Sohra Police Station, NCC contingents of Ram Khrishna Mission School and 11 schools at Sohra Sports Stadium, Saitsohpen, Sohra.
At Mairang Civil Sub-Division, Parliamentary Secretary, Shri Kennedy C Khyriem unfurled the National Flag and took the Rashtriya salute of the 17 parade contingents comprising of the Meghalaya Police and students at the Dommawlum Stadium, Pyndengumiong Mairang.
Amidst an impressive crowd, tableaux of 5 government Departments were presented on the occasion.
At Dadenggre Civil Sub-Division, Forests and Environment Minister, Shri Clement Marak unfurled the National flag and took the Rashtriya salute of the marching contingents.
At Amlarem Civil Sub-Division, Shri Stephanson Mukhim, Parliamentary Secretary and local MLA unfurled the National Flag and took the Rashtriya Salute.
Other highlights of the programme include presentation of songs, cultural items, dances and poetry reading prepared by the students of various schools and cultural troupe which kept the audience enthralled.
At Patharkhmah Administrative Unit, Ri Bhoi District, Shri H. K. Thabah, BDO, Jirang C&RD Block unfurled the National flag and took the salute at Patharkhmah Playground. Other highlights of the day include cultural programmes and prize distribution.
At Mawshynrut Administrative Unit, Parliamentary Secretary, Shri Cherak W. Momin, unfurled the National Flag and took the Rashtriya salute of the marching contingents at Riangdo Playground.
Cultural items, prize distribution and distribution of gifts to the disabled person were the other highlights of the day.
Indian Institute of Management, Shillong, celebrated the 68thRepublic Day in the presence of the Director, faculty members, and students. The proceedings commenced with a flag hoisting ceremony, which was followed by the National Anthem.
SOS Children’s Village celebrated Republic day with great enthusiasm. A festive atmosphere prevailed amongst all in the SOS Children’s Village Shillong.
The programme begun with hosting of the National Flag and the hildren presented a beautiful cultural programme.
