SHILLONG: KHADC chief executive member and suspended Congress leader P.N Syiem has said he would take a decision on his political prospects by June-July amid speculations about him floating a party before the 2018 assembly elections.
“I will take a call in June-July to see and understand where I stand,” Syiem told The Shillong Times but refused to comment on whether he would leave the Congress and float a new party.
Syiem, who has been vocal against Chief Minister Mukul Sangma in the last one year, was suspended from the Congress for his alleged anti-party activities.
The passing of the dual posts bill by the State Government was the bone of contention between Mukul Sangma and Syiem.
Reacting to a query, the KHADC CEM said people of the State have lost their confidence in the present coalition since the Government has failed in all respects.
“The state has tremendous potential in terms of natural resources but it has not been tapped to create employment,” he said while adding that the Government could not even implement the mining policy.
