KHADC delays NOC

SHILLONG: The two land road project with paved shoulder of Western Bypass of Shillong which can play a pivotal role in reducing traffic jams within Shillong town is not making much progress due to land acquisition hurdles and non issuance of NOC from KHADC.
The 42.05 kms Western Bypass which would start 60 kms of NH 40 to and 87 kms of the same highway will be taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 258.37 crore.
As per the status report, land acquisition estimate for first 10 kms have been prepared by Deputy Commissioner, West Khasi Hills District.
However, Revenue & Disaster Management Department could not notify due to non-receipt of consent from Khasi Hill Autonomous District Council.
In addition, remaining stretch has to be realigned and land acquisition will be initiated only after finalisation of DPR.  According to status report, the financial bid for the project was opened on January 31.
Meanwhile, the most preferred consultant (H-I) M/s L. N. MALVIYA INFRA PROJECTS PVT LTD  has been asked to submit justification of the cost quoted by them within seven days before initiating the Contract Negotiations.
The bids for DPR Consultancy for the project are also under evaluation.
