SHILLONG: The State Government on Friday sought more time from the High Court to file certain photographs and documents in connection with the comprehensive affidavit filed by the Chief Secretary in the matter of hawkers occupying the streets of Shillong.
In the last hearing, the High Court had asked the Chief Secretary to appoint a nodal officer to ensure status quo on the matter related to hawkers as ordered earlier by the Court.
During the hearing on Friday, senior counsel H.S Thangkhiew, appearing for the State, submitted that though the Chief Secretary has filed a comprehensive affidavit as required in the orders passed by the Court, certain documents and photographs are yet to be filed.
The Court added that the documents and photographs may be filed within a week along with an additional affidavit.
According to High Court, copies of the affidavits and documents may be supplied to the counsel for the appellant as also some of the respondents within 10 days from Friday or they may submit their response in writing on or before the next date.  The Court, however, said the Chief Secretary may continue with the process as contemplated by the orders passed in this matter.
The matter has been listed after four weeks.
