KSU Central Executive Council elects new members
Shillong: The Khasi Students’ Union Central Executive Council (CEC) has elected CEC members which included Barikular Nongsiej (Asst. Organising Secy.), Pynshaiborlang Rani (Asst. Education Secy.), Ostarnic Marbaniang ( Asst. Publicity Secy.), Dakishanlang Z Malngiang ( Asst. Office Secy.), Reallystar Nongspung (Environment & Cultural Secy.), Manly Nongpluh (Finance Secretary).
The Executive members include Raymond Kharjana, Eric Nongkynrih, Ian Gilmore Nonghuloo, Forwardman Nongrem, Truelywell Lyngdoh, Ferdynald Kharkamni , Vincent Makri, Ohibait Dkhar, Streamly S Ñiangti, John F. Nongsiang (EM), Shemphang Marbaniang, Damil Bynnud and Ennocent Khongstia and many others.
Headman files complaints against four families
SHILLONG: Phulnuis Siangshai, the headman of of Moolang village in East Jaintia Hills has lodged a complaint with the police that four families in the village refuse to take any medication whenever they are sick and their houses are always locked.
Moreover, when the members of the village visited these houses, they found that the houses are always locked and the family members missing.
SDRC meeting held
Shillong: The State Development Reforms Commission (SDRC) under the Chairmanship of Sengman R. Marak, Ex-MLA reviewed the programmes/activities of the Social Welfare, Health & Family Welfare, Labour and Home (Police) Departments on February 20 in the Conference Room of the Main Secretariat Building, Shillong.
The interaction, discussion, observations and suggestions made by the members touches the core issues reflecting the aspirations of the members of the public especially the rural masses on transparency, publicity and beneficiary driven schemes of each Department was an eye-opener for the officers present.
The next SDRC meeting will be held at South Garo Hills District, Baghmara and West Garo Hills District, Tura from April 17-22 for all District Head offices.
Woman assaulted
SHILLONG: On February 18,a woman lodged a complaint that one Pyrkhat Thawmuid dragged her to a jungle at Mawklot, Upper Shillong and clasp her mouth.
Before he could sexually assault her, the complainant’s husband Standing Thawmuid saw them and assaulted the complainant.
Annual sports week
SHILLONG: Tura MP Conrad Sangma inaugurated the annual sports week of St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School at Jengjal on Tuesday.
Addressing the students and other guests at the inaugural function, Sangma said, “Set your goals in education and work hard. Never lose confidence but go on with a fair game in life and success will surely follow.”
The sports week will conclude on Friday.
