Central official to discuss Aadhaar hurdles on Mar 1

SHILLONG: The deputy director general of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), L.K Pegu, will hold a meeting with state officials in the city on March 1 to help the government overcome the hurdles in implementing Aadhaar.Additional Chief Secretary P.W Ingty, who is dealing with the matter, told reporters on Thursday, “The meeting is to discuss as to how to go forward with the implementation of Aadhaar as some technical issues are involved.”Ingty said the UIDAI official will come with a technical team.The state government is yet to approve the implementing agency though it selected it in the past.
Since the Aadhaar coverage in Meghalaya is only 10 per cent, the Centre had given exemption to the state several times.
