SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Conscious Citizens’ Forum has slammed the CBI for its inability to come up with an inquiry report into the kidnapping of a Seng Khasi leader 16 years ago.
R. Khongsah, who was the then president of Seng Khasi Ri War Mihngi, was abducted from his residence at Jaiaw Laitdom on March 1, 2001.
Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, MCCF convener Tyllilang Myrthong recalled that the CBI was entrusted with the responsibility of investigating into the matter after a writ petition was filed before the Shillong Bench of the Gauhati High Court in 2001.
The case is pending in the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Shillong, Myrthong said, adding that Khongsah’s whereabouts have remained a mystery.
