Mentally unstable girl raped in EJH

SHILLONG: A mentally unstable girl was raped by a person identified as Nat Siangshai of Moolamanoh village in East Jaintia Hills. Later, during medical examination, it was found that the girl was pregnant.
Attempts were made to contact the East Jaintia Hills SP but he did not pick up the phone.
More cases of sexual harassment were reported in the district in the past one week.
A woman from Umkiang village lodged a complaint that on March 11, a 16-year-old boy raped her 14-year-old daughter.
Another similar incident took place on the same evening when a girl was forcibly taken into a jungle at Moolamylliang village by a man who has been identified as Lambok Sungi.
The girl, however, managed to escape.
The cases of crime against women are on a steady rise in the State despite several NGOs and civil society groups raising their voices for the rights of women.
