SHILLONG: HSPDP legislator Ardent Basaiawmoit said on Thursday that the Government is on a denial mode as far as the issue of contamination of water is concerned.
“The Government is in a denial mode. Recently, people from Mawlai complained about unsafe water,” Basaiawmoit said.
Earlier, PHE Minister Prestone Tynsong replied in the negative to a question in the Assembly on whether drinking water supplied by Greater Shillong Water Supply Scheme was unfit for human consumption.
The HSPDP member also said that he personally encountered the problem as water supplied in Laitkor area cannot be compared with the clear water supplied in areas under Mawphlang.
