Cricket tourney: St. Nanak beat Gandhi Buniyadi
SHILLONG: The Inter School Cricket Tournament match was between Gandhi Buniyadi vs St.Nanak School on Tuesday. Team Gandhi Buniyadi won the toss and decided to field first. St. Nanak School scored 143/10 in 24.2 overs, in which Ranjeet Thakur scored 53 runs off 45 balls and Binod Kumar Rai gave 21 runs off 30 balls. Bowler Binod took 3 wickets and Bipin managed to take 2 wickets. However, Gandhi Buniyadi players could score 120 runs with all wickets down. Gandhi Buniyadi’s Krishna scored 24 runs off 31 balls, while Sumesh scores 13 runs off 15 balls. Jitender Thakur took 3 wickets and Pappu Kumar took 2.
Kohli doubtful for early part of IPL
Dharamsala: Indian captain Virat Kohli is in doubt for the early stages of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after conceding that his shoulder injury is still a few weeks away from complete recovery.Kohli skipped the fourth and final Test of the series against Australia, which India won 2-1 owing to the injury. It has now jeopardised his participation in the early part of IPL beginning April 5.Kohli’s team Royal Challengers Bangalore face defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL opener.”It’s still a few weeks to go before I can be 100 percent on the field,” Kohli said in the post match press conference of the fourth Test when asked about his fitness.”But these things happen in your career. Got to take it in my strike and move forward,” he said.Kohli had hurt his shoulder while fielding during the third Test in Ranchi, forcing him to miss his first five-day game in 54 matches.For RCB, Kohli has missed only one game and that was way back in the inaugural edition in 2008. Barcelona’s Neymar says no to Manchester United move
Sao Paulo: Brazilian football ace Neymar has put to rest all speculation about his move to Manchester United saying he would stay at FC Barcelona amid rumours in Spain that the mercurial forward might move to England. A report from the Sport daily in Spain stated that Manchester United will offer Barcelona a world-record breaking transfer fee of 200 million euros (around $217 million) to buy the 25-year-old. It was also reported that the former Brazil captain has been offered in excess of 25 million euros ($27.1 million) per season. “My dream was to play at Barcelona. When I was a boy that was all I wanted. And the most important thing about playing for Barcdlona is that I’m making my childhood dream come true,” Neymar was quoted as saying by El Mundo Deportivo on Monday. The Brazilian Olympic gold winner turned down an offer from Paris Saint-Germain last summer, before extending his contract until June 2021 with the Catalan giants. Asked about clubmate and Argentine superstar Lionel Messi’s stay at the club, Neymar remained positive that he will stay. “Messi will renew because he is Barcelona and Barcelona is Messi,” Neymar said. Chapecoense to finally play Atletico Nacional for title
Sao Paulo: Bonded by an air crash which killed 71 people in November, Brazilian club Chapecoense and Colombia’s Atletico Nacional said they will play a South American cup final next week. The first leg of the Recopa Sudamericana final, between the champions of the Copa Sudamericana and the Copa Libertadores, will be staged in the southern Brazil city of Chapeco on April 4.
The return leg will be in Medellin on May 10, the clubs said on Monday. In November, 19 members of the Brazilian team died in the crash outside Medellin as they travelled to play Nacional in the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana final. The tragedy made Atletico Nacional pronounce Chapecoense as champion, and the South American confederation agreed.(AP)
