No IPL fan park in city

Shillong: Continuous rain since the last week has forced the cancellation of IPL Fan Park scheduled to be organized in Cricket Ground, Polo this weekend.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the Meghalaya Cricket Association said that preparatory works like installation of the necessary infrastructure was made virtually impossible as the ground was rendered water-logged due to the heavy rain.
“Unseasonal rain played spoil sport to the much anticipated event which had generated a lot of enthusiasm in the capital. Meghalaya Cricket Association is immensely grateful to the district administration and other related Government departments, media and others for their support till the last hour and apologizes to the cricket lovers for the cancellation due to weather conditions which are beyond its control,” the MCA statement said.
The IPL Fan Park was supposed to be held on April 8 and 9.
