Lucknow, Apr 11 :  Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party today welcomed the Yogi Aditynath government for taking pro-people decisions which will benefit million of families in the state.
BJP general secretary Vijay Bahadur Pathak in a statement here said the decision to purchase potato directly from the farmers and waiving off the surcharge on power defaulters were good moves.
He said it was just one month that BJP came to power on March 11 but in its two Cabinet meetings, the Yogi government had done a lot including waiver off more than Rs 36,000 crore of farm loan of farmers.
“There are still several schemes in the pipeline to be launched in the state when people will certainly claim that this BJP government is meant for the poor,” he added.
Today, the BJP government announced several sops for the people besides decision to implement its ideology of susahan, Mr Pathak said.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party spokesperson Rajendra Choudhury criticised the decision by the BJP government to purchase potato. “The potato season has ended in UP. Announcing to purchase potatoes by UP government is merely an effort to gain publicity and nothing else when the farmers have stored their potatoes in the cold storage,” he claimed in a statement.
