NFR’s earning from passengers without ticket rises 20 %

Guwahati: Northeast Frontier Railway on Monday said that its income from fining passengers without ticket increased by 20 per cent to Rs 36 crore during 2016-17.
“The penalty earning has increased to Rs 36.12 crore as against Rs 30.05 crore of previous year, an increase of 20.2 per cent,” NFR Chief Public Relations Officer Pranav Jyoti Sharma said. NF Railway has detected 5,71,415 passengers travelling without ticket compared to previous year’s figure of 4,65,343, which is a rise of 22.79 %. “NF Railway officials have been conducting surprise ticket checking drives in mail, express and passenger trains,” Sharma said.
