2 killed in road mishaps

JOWAI: Two persons died in separate accidents in West Jaintia Hills early on Friday morning. Police said both the accidents were due to rash driving.
In the first incident, a 28-year-old man succumbed to injuries after the car he was travelling in met with an accident.
Earlyin Dawn Langstand and five others, including the driver were critically injured when their car coming from Dawki hit another vehicle coming from the wrong side of the road. The injured persons were taken to Ialong Civil Hospital where Langstand died. Others who are injured are Klostar Talang, Sambha Talang, Monjur Pakma, Samuel Dhar and Marbiang Ksoo.
In another incident, a woman identified as Basis Dkhar (48) succumbed to her injuries after a Tata Sumo she was travelling in dashed against a guard wall recently at Umpasait near Raliang village. Seven passengers sustained injuries. The woman died at Ialong Civil Hospital.
