Pre-monsoon shower submerges large parts of Agartala

Agartala: Low laying areas of Tripura, including large parts of the capital city, have been submerged due to incessant rain for the past two days accompanied by squall and thunderstorm.
However, there is no report of any causality or massive damage of houses yet, except inundation of agriculture crops.
A few habitation in outskirts of Agartala and other towns of the state were reported to be inundated because of heavy shower.
Meteorological forecast indicated heavy shower and thunderstorm for next two days in the state.
Due to incessant rain all the low-lying areas of Agartala have been submerged with rain water, as drainage system of the city was appeared to be collapsed and traffic movements hit road-blocks in the pick hours.
The pre-monsoon rains for last three days have cooled the air in the state capital with maximum temperatures rising to 24.3 degrees Celsius, which is 9 degree Celsius below from normal temperature and minimum temperature was recorded at 21 degrees Celsius.
The rain crippled normal life, as most of the people preferred to remain indoors.
The busy commercial areas wore a gloomy look as movements of vehicles and pedestrians came down drastically.
Most of the shops in the market areas were seen shut mainly due to water logging. (UNI)
