Guwahati: To quell the resentment among grass root workers and to put a proper check and balance in taking new members, bjp in assam has decided not to allow fresh joining until cleared by the state president. With many joining the bjp from different political party, there is also resentment among section of grassroots workers who said that they are getting sidelined and people who have been recently inducted are getting plum posts in the party. “We have taken the decision of not allowing fresh joining. Any joining if at all has be cleared by the state unit president,” dilip saikia, spokesperson of party said. This step is taken to keep at bay those people who come to party in expectation of getting posts in government bodies and other benefits. “Since 2014 bjp has launched massive membership drive. Now we have sufficient membership base in assam,” saikia added. A section of party workers also raised this matter during the visit of union home minister rajnath singh in december last year. Bjp stormed into power in 2014 with a massive win and is now preparing for the panchayat polls. (Uni)
