Mining, illegal transportation of coal banned in EJH

SHILLONG: The District Magistrate, East Jaintia Hills has promulgated an order under section 144 CrPC prohibiting fresh mining and illegal transportation of coal in the district.
All coal laden trucks should possess transportation challan, royalty challan and other related documents, said an order issued by the magistrate.
“No coal trucks are to carry coal beyond the permissible limit and there should be no rampant dumping of coal on the road side along the National Highway-44 and PWD roads,” the order said, while prohibiting the assembly of persons or group of people and carrying of arms and lethal weapons that may cause injury.
“Anyone found violating the stipulated conditions will be dealt with sternly,” the statement said.
