SHILLONG: Police suspect that the 18-year-old labourer, Dajied Syiemlieh, who was abducted from Nongjri in South West Khasi Hills, may have been taken to Bangladesh by the mixed group of miscreants.
DGP SB Singh said the information with the police is that the worker is in Bangladesh.
He said the abduction was the handiwork of a mixed group of miscreants from Bangladesh, who have connections in South West Khasi Hills.
The DGP said BSF is coordinating with the police to rescue the labourer.
Syiemlieh of Umsur village was abducted by the miscreants from the office of Kynsai Dkhar, Syiemlieh’s employer, on April 27. The kidnappers had also demanded Rs 5 crore as ransom.
Police believe that the miscreants might have targeted to kidnap the employer who is a coal and limestone exporter or the manager.
The KSU has called a protest rally on May 12 in South West Khasi Hills for the unconditional release of the labourer.
