Overcharging by IMFL retailers: FKJGP seeks EGH DC’s action

SHILLONG: The FKJGP, Eastern circle, Williamnagar has urged the East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner to act against overcharging by IMFL retailers and violation of the Excise rules by the bonded warehouses.
Seeking the DC’s intervention into the matter, the pressure group alleged there is rampant overcharging by IMFL retailers as well as bonded warehouses.
According to the FKJGP, the bonded warehouses directly dispatch the IMFL to retailers after receiving cash which creates a vacuum for the black marketers. The pressure group said that as per the Excise Rule, the bonded warehouses have to obtain challans from the Superintendent of Excise, and deposit the amount from retailers in the bank and subsequently, they can issue IMFL products to the retailers. Stating that this is a clear violation of Consumers Rights, Meghalaya Excise Act and bonded warehouse rules, the FKJGP demanded action against the monopoly.
