SHILLONG: Two Ri Bhoi farmers have accused the former headman of a village in the district of grabbing their land.
Rangbah Shnong and Sordar of Khyndewso village under Raid Thadrang during 2008-2010, Barnabas Lyngdoh allegedly took control of the lands belonging to Holen Kyrwa and Shlik Suting despite the possession of valid documents by the complainants.
The lands were given to the two villagers by the Dorbar of Hima Khyriem in 2005 for cultivation.
Speaking to media persons here on Monday, Kyrwa alleged that the former headman forcibly took away the land at Mawranap-Mawsati and Lum Kynjoin which belonged to him and his daughter Sitawanbha Mynsong even though he had registered the land in 2005.

Meanwhile, Suting too accused the headman of foulplay.
The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) Raid Nongtung Circle has made note of the incident.
