Villagers rubbish BSF’s clothes seizure claims

SHILLONG: The traditional heads of Umsyiem village in East Khasi Hills refuted BSF claims that a huge consignment of clothes that was being smuggled into Bangladesh from India was seized by the border troops.
It may be stated that the BSF reported that its troops deployed in Umsyiem recovered over 3000 sarees worth Rs 28 lakh and BSF deployed at Pyrdiwah, East Khasi Hills seized over 2000 kg of dry fish worth Rs 9 lakh.
In a statement, assistant secretary of the village, S.L Kongwang said there was no truth in the BSF report.
The statement further claimed that there was no BSF camp at Umsyiem.
