TURA/SHILLONG: The results of 20 toppers of SSLC were leaked on Monday night, a day before its official declaration by MBoSE.
Though MBoSE was to release the result at 10 am on Tuesday through its own website and other sites approved by the Board, the merit list was leaked on social media on Monday.
T.R Laloo, MBoSE controller of examinations, confirmed the selective leak of the merit list, and said the Board is examining all angles to find out the source of the leak.
“It is unfortunate. It never happened. It could be possible that the websites which have the results were hacked. We are talking to the technical experts to find out the reason,” Laloo said.
In the past, MBoSE was in the news for question paper leak which, however, was stopped for the last many years due to the fool-proof measures initiated by the Board.
The official said he came to know that it was leaked on Facebook and “some people who were close to us also told us that it happened”.
According to Laloo, the matter was taken up with the technical personnel of MBoSE and it does not appear to be an inside job.
“It was only the PDF file of the merit list which was leaked. Others are yet to be out,” he said.
Laloo said MBoSE used to share the results with the trusted websites beforehand as they need to sort out posting the same in time.
“It may be the mistake of any of these website partners or someone may have hacked the websites,” he added.
As per the list, Duyu Asung of St George Secondary School in Nongmynsong and Lamphrang Lyngdoh of Ram Krishna Mission HS School Cherrapunji shared the top rank as they both notched up a total of 568 marks to obtain the highest in six subjects.
Rahul Sen of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School in Tura, one of the oldest institutions in the western part of the State, and Idarikor Warshong of Eriben Presbyterian Secondary School, Shillong, jointly held the second position.
Eight other students from Garo Hills, two each from Aeroville Secondary School and Sherwood School, one each from St Xavier’s Tura and Holy Family Secondary School in Rongjeng, who together with 5th rank holder Mainak Debnath of Bhaitbari HS School surfaced on the MBOSE top 20 position rankings.
