SHILLONG: With the Government probing links between HNLC and KSU, the NPP on Thursday said it should also investigate the alleged nexus between Chief Minister Mukul Sangma and the HNLC.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, T. Pohshna, general secretary, NPP Shillong City, said the Political Affairs Committee of NPP Shillong City has viewed as serious the developing situation arising of the stand-off between the KSU and the State Government over the railway issue at Byrnihat. The PAC met on Thursday under the chairmanship of W. Kharmujai, president, NPP Shillong City and was attended by M. Kharpuri, chief organiser and K. Syiem Sutnga, Advocate.
As media reports, , the Congress led MUA Government is going to probe the alleged KSU-HNLC nexus following a recent statement by the HNLC, the NPP said, adding that this has been refuted by the KSU.
“It will be of great public interest if at the same time the alleged nexus between the Chief Minister and the HNLC can also be thoroughly investigated,” the NPP said.
The HNLC had claimed that the Chief Minister is seeking its help to win the upcoming election in 2018.
“The people of Meghalaya have a right to know the truth of this alleged nexus and this matter cannot be just swept away and be dismissed as politically motivated,” the NPP said.
The NPP added that it is fitting that along with the probe into the alleged KSU-HNLC nexus, the allegations against Sangma be taken seriously by the Meghalaya police with appropriate action in the interest of justice.
