SHILLONG: A teenager hailing from Tripua committed suicide in the city after jumping from a building located near Kelian School and Woodland Hospital at Dhankheti on Thurs-day night.
The 18-year-old youth identified as Nayan Datta Jamatia, resides in Shillong with his brother-in-law and works at a Fast Food at Bawri Mansion in Dhankheti, police said.
According to police, he had suicidal tendency after he lost his father.
His body was discovered by passersby, who immediately reported the same.
Police are trying to ascertain the reason behind the drastic step taken by the young man. The postmortem has been conducted.
This was the second instance of suicide in the city, committed within a span of two weeks. Earlier, a school student had also committed suicide.
