Guwahati: Even as the year’s first wave of flood unleashed by the monsoon showers for the last few days has inundated vast areas in five districts of Assam affecting over 70,000 population, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday directed the deputy commissioners of the district to reach out to the flood-hit in no time and took stock of the flood preparedness all over the state during a video conference with all the district heads.
Sonowal asked the deputy commissioners to keep sufficient stock of medicine, food items, fodder for the livestock and country boats ready to press them into service during relief and rescue operations.
The CM called for adequate security to every household affected by flood and make proper assessment for deployment of SDRF to rescue operations in marooned areas.
Stating that revenue department has already released gratuitous relief fund to all the districts, the CM emphasised on timely payment of ex-gratia amount to families of flood victims within 48 hours.
The flood has so far displaced about 4000 people while at least two flood-hit were reported missing in Sonitpur district.

It will help one to get information about the river island which is the capital of vaishnavite culture and religion in Assam. It can be downloaded from Google play store in any Android phone.
