Lottery draw decides transfer of Assam staff

Guwahati: Panchayat and Rural Development department (P&RD) in Assam government has resorted to lottery to effect transfer and posting of its staff in a maiden attempt to bring about transparency in the process.
The P&RD department on Tuesday effected transfer-posting of the 264 Gaon Panchayat Secretaries of five districts of Kamrup (Metropolitan), Kamrup, Darrang, Morigaon and Nalbari through a lottery draw held at the conference hall of the office of the Commissioner of the department in presence of MGVK Bhanu, Additional Chief Secretary to the state government.
All the five chief executive officers (CEOs) of the respective districts and senior officials of the Commissioner’s office were present during conduct of lottery. The transfer-posting of the village panchayat secretaries have been made strictly as per new transfer policy of the Department.
The transfer orders of the secretaries are being uploaded on the department’s website rural.assam.gov.in.
