SHILLONG: KHADC CEM P.N Syiem and Nongkrem MDC HS Shylla on Thursday alleged that there is no difference between UDP, HSPDP and Congress.
Shylla, a People’s Democratic Front (PDF) ticket aspirant now, termed the opposition members in the KHADC, the UDP, HSPDP and Congress as bhai-bhai.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, he recalled that the UDP high command had barred him from seeking support from Congress when he had moved the no-confidence motion against PN Syiem during the last session.
“Looking at the present situation, where is UDP’s stand,” he asked.
Commenting on the view of the Congress that the EC collapsed after the opposition moved the resolution on cattle which was adopted by the House, Shylla said, “Bringing a resolution by the opposition does not mean that the Executive Committee has collapsed.”
It is not mandatory to withdraw the resolution. Congress is taking advantage of the situation to topple the EC of PN Syiem, he said.
To a question on the stand of UDP, he said, “UDP is spineless. It has worked with the Congress.”
While heaping praises on Syiem, Shylla said, “I see something unique in PN Syiem.”
Meanwhile, in a separate press briefing, Syiem said, “We are in the People’s Democratic Forum and not the People’s Democratic Front. Only time will tell where we will join.”
He maintained that he is still a suspended Congress member.
Stating that the Congress, UDP and HSPDP stood up when the no-confidence motion was admitted, Syiem said that there is no difference between these parties.
He added that their force cannot defeat the will of the people.
