SHILLONG: Meghalaya Governor Banwarilal Purohit has returned the file related to the withdrawal of administrator’s rule in GHADC with some queries to the government.
An official said on Thursday that the governor is yet to approve the recommendation of the Cabinet to withdraw the administrator’s rule since he wanted to know whether Boston Marak, who is projected as the next CEM by the Opposition coalition, has resigned from the post of chairman of the Council which he is currently holding.
The District Council Affairs department has decided to consult legal experts before sending any reply to the query of the governor.
However, sources said that the view of the government would be that the chairman of GHADC needs to resign only at a later stage before filing nomination to contest the post of CEM.
According to the government, withdrawal of administrator’s rule and the resignation of Boston from the post of chairman should be treated differently.
