SHILLONG: The Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Shillong Commerce College concluded on Saturday at U Soso Tham Auditorium.
The programme was attended by Chief Minister Mukul M Sangma as the chief guest and the guest of honor was Minister, Education, Higher & Technical Education, Roshan Warjri.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the celebrations give an opportunity to connect with the great history of the college. He also said that education provides the whole wherewithal for the youth to realise their own capabilities and potentials based on which one can prepare his future plans.
“Inclusive and aggregated career guidance and prospective assessment of emerging opportunities starting from the Secondary level must be given in every educational institution,” said Sangma. He also said that institutions should nurture and guide the students to realise their capacities and competency so that each individual can bring out his inherent strengths.
Warjri in her address said that this access to Commerce stream adapting to changing contours of Education branching out from the conventional streams of Science and Humanities was the result of the farsightedness of the founding
members of the college. The Golden Jubilee Magazine was also released by the Chief Minister.
