SHILLONG: BJP MDC in KHADC, Neil Antonio War, alleged that the Congress supported by UDP and HSPDP was behind the move to oust the chief executive member as the chief minister is threatened by the PDF coalition in the Council.
“The Congress has a big role in the no-confidence motion brought by the regional parties,” War said at a news conference here on Saturday.
According to War, the chief minister is threatened since the coalition in the KHADC is backed by BJP.
“The Congress is desperate to bring down the PDF led by P.N Syiem, which is supported by BJP,” War said.
According to War, it is a matter of concern that the Congress sided with the regional parties only to oust the Executive Committee of PN Syiem.
He also said the council rules were followed while taking up the no confidence motion by the KHADC chairman and the opposition could not initiate discussion since they did not have the numbers.
Majority claim in GHADC
BJP MDC Sofior Rahman, who was part of the NPP-led Executive Committee, said the coalition has the support of 17 members despite the claim of suspended NPP member Boston Marak that his group has 16 members. He said Marak, who is the chairman of the GHADC, is yet to resign from the post and hence the governor did not approve the withdrawal of administrator’s rule in the GHADC.
According to Rahman, many members currently supporting Marak will desert him and the NPP-led coalition will be able to form the next Executive Committee.
