Seminar on human resource in digital age held
SHILLONG: The Department of Management at North-Eastern Hills University-Tura recently organised a two-day international seminar on ‘Human Resource Management and Development in the Digital Age’.
The seminar, which offered a platform to researchers and scholars from around the world, focused on evidence-based research on various topics like human resource in digitised organisation, transparency and ethical code in virtual organisation.
Ashim Kumar Mukherjee, professor at Allahabad University, congratulated the department for organising the seminar. He said in the digital age, people are forced to be mechanical but they should not forget the significance of personal human touch.
Research papers from northeastern as well as other states, like Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, and countries like Brazil, China and Bangladesh were submitted. More than a hundred papers were presented in the two days.
The seminar was also sponsored by ICSSR-NERC, Shillong, IOCL, Bongaigaon, Oil India Limited and Numaligarh Refinery Ltd.

Awareness on GST held
SHILLONG: Amrit Cement Limited organised a GST awareness camp on Saturday for Meghalaya State Cement dealers.
It was conducted by R.C Tripathi, finance head at Amrit Cement, Prasenjit Dutta, finance head from Guwahati and Rajinder Singh, regional sales manager, Guwahati.
The meeting was attended by more than 50 dealers of Amrit Cement and other brand dealers.
The camp was aimed at creating awareness on GST and motivating dealers to migrate from sales tax to GST on or before July 1.
Dealers were overwhelmed by the session and cleared their doubts and got motivated.
A statement said Amrit Cement was the first in the State to conduct GST camp and committed to doing so in other northeastern states so that dealers can get maximum benefits and do further business as per GST norms.

Awareness event for parents
SHILLONG: Ekta Mahila Samiti, a city-based NGO, organised a parental awareness programme in Jhalupara on Saturday in collaboration with the City Police, ‘Impulse’ (International Human Trafficking NGO) and other organisations. Paul Lyngdoh and Sanbor Shullai attended the programme. The event was aimed at sensitising parents about drug abuse and alcoholism.
