SHILLONG: Nongkrem, MDC, HS Shylla accused the Congress led state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, for its move to topple the Executive Committee (EC) of the People’s Democratic Forum (PDF) coalition led by KHADC CEM P.N. Syiem.
In a statement to the press, he asserted that the Congress government colluded to bring in Administrator’s rule in KHADC.
Stating that the dispute is between Syiem and Sangma, he claimed that the Congress planned the move to topple the Executive Committee of Syiem after the No-Confidence motion against the CEM.
“Meghalaya should be re-christened Mukulaya instead of Meghalaya if Chief Minister Mukul Sangma topples the EC of the PDF coalition,” Shylla said.
Referring to the incident, where Home Minister kissed the hand of Mukul Sangma, Shylla taunted that the UDP and HSPDP have unwittingly kissed the hand of Sangma.
He asserted that the sudden walkout protest by the opposition members to show that there is disorder in District Council is a pretext to bring in Administrator’s rule. The MDC said, “The KHADC is not a branch or department of the State Government as it is an Autonomous body. The State Government cannot treat the District Council as its department.”
Shylla went on to allege that the opposition members in the KHADC (UDP, HSPDP, Independent) tried to rope in Independent Executive Members (EMs) – James Sylliang and Grace Mary Kharpuri to the post of CEM and Deputy CEM respectively.
