‘Abducted’ minors were out on their own

SHILLONG: Shillong Police on Thursday confirmed that the two minor girls (11-year-old and 8-year-old), who went missing from Mawlai Nongpdeng and were later found abandoned at Mawlai Mawroh, were not abducted. Police said the minors were out on their own. The two minor girls stole money from home and wanted to go out and eat something in Polo, police said adding that when people inquired about their address, the girls made up a story.
Earlier, it was reported that on July 3, around 6.30 pm, the minor girls were abducted by unidentified persons from Mawlai Nongpdeng and later abandoned at Mawlai Mawroh.
