Cop shot at by colleague

SHILLONG: A Meghalaya police constable sustained head injury after he had been shot at by a havildar with his service revolver following a heated argument between the two at Mawiong on Saturday.

The victim, constable, Randhir Kumar Singh was rushed  to NEIGRIHMS hospital and the accused havildar Sumarto Snaitang  was arrested and produced in Court on Sunday.

The city Superintendent of Police (Crime), Vivek Syiem, said that there was an altercation between the two policemen while they were travelling in a police vehicle (ML 01-5879) to Shillong after attending their duty in Guwahati at 10:40 P.M.

He added that two bullets were shot by the havildar from his service weapon and of those hit the constable on his head. Weapons along with four live ammunition and two empty cartridges were seized along with the vehicle.
